ActionAid

ActionAid was founded in 1972 in London as a small charity to enable 88 children in India and Kenya to attend school. Today, we are an independent international organization defending fundamental rights and operating in over 71 countries. In Italy, we have been active since 1989, supported by more than 135,000 donors, including 120,000 regular donors.

Our mission is to concretely improve the living conditions of the poorest communities, producing lasting changes by listening to their needs. At the same time, we raise awareness and involve citizens, businesses, and institutions in developed countries, making them active participants in this change.

Thanks to the contributions of our supporters, we assist approximately five million people, ensuring them access to fundamental rights such as education, hygiene and healthcare, food, and water. We fight against child labor and early marriages, which are forms of abuse and gender-based violence affecting the most vulnerable.

Our philosophy is based on empowerment and emancipation, aiming to foster internal change that enables communities to manage themselves independently over time.
