ASD Canottieri Moto Guzzi

A.S.D. Canottieri Moto Guzzi was founded in 1929 as a form of corporate Dopolavoro from the entrepreneurial reality founded by Carlo Guzzi, Giorgio Parodi and Giovanni Ravelli in Mandello del Lario (Lecco, Italy).

The first appearance of a vessel with the license plate “G.S. Moto Guzzi” was on the Comacina Island on 8 July 1929. After which the sports team also opened up to international competitions which in Lucerne on 31 August 1947 earned the legendary 4th - with Moioli, Morille, Invernizzi and Faggi the gold medal at the European Championships. This was the first success that will kick off the most glorious period of the sports club. The 4th - Giuseppe Moioli, Elio Morille, Giovanni Invernizzi and Franco Faggi later became Olympic Champions with a time of 6'39" on 9 August 1948.

A.S.D. Canottieri Moto Guzzi has decided to launch, together with the Arcobaleno section of the Polisportiva Mandello del Lario, a sports inclusion project to encourage complete autonomy of the athlete and carry out normal sports practice. Rowing can be practiced by people with motor disabilities and intellectual disabilities.

Rowing offers an important psychological benefit: contact with water, in fact, promotes relaxation and serenity: rowing together on long boats creates positive synergies and prospects for increasing social relationships, with obvious advantages for the construction of a greater sense of integration and adaptation.

Since 2019 A.S.D. Canottieri Moto Guzzi has started to structure a sports program dedicated to these kids and the funds raised are intended for:

  • a new boat suitable for practice
  • equipment to adapt boats (e.g. floats), platforms for entering the water for various physical disabilities
  • new rowing machines
  • provide specific training courses for current coaches
  • hire new specialized and dedicated staff
