Associazione Le Muse Rezzato
Associazione Le Muse was founded in 2003 by a group of young girls who dreamed of making a difference for the many dogs they saw crammed into the then overcrowded kennels of Brescia: a one-way ticket to cold, often dilapidated stalls from which they did not even get out for a walk. Today those girls are mothers of families, and after 20 years their dream has come true in a small shelter where they give “second rate” dogs a chance to reach their full potential.
The press since the early years has called us “The Association of Dogs No One Wants” because our gaze has always lingered on the sick dog they gave away, the aggressive one everyone turned away, the phobic one they thought was hopeless. More than 4,000 dogs have passed through our shelter, most of them happily adopted. To these numbers must be added some 2,000 fostered cats and, above all, the dozens of newborns brought to us to offer them hope for survival.
In 2022 the Association's sensibility was further opened to environmental horizons as well, since it was now clear to everyone that more responsible management of the environment was the key to the well-being of all life forms. The most concrete act realized was the acquisition of a park assessed as an “Ecological Corridor of Significant Interest.” A real treasure that unfortunately was almost completely destroyed by the tornado of July 2023. At the same time, the efforts of our volunteers expanded to include barn animals, with the care and management of a herd of about 35 buffaloes and to 10 horses, and exotics abandoned by their owners, in particular, parrots and turtles.
