Lions Club Milano Via della Spiga x City Angels Lombardia ODV
Lions Clubs International is a non-profit social welfare organisation operating in 200 countries and areas with 1.4 million Lions and Leos.
With this auction, Lions Club Milano Via della Spiga, District of Milan, supports the City Angels Lombardia ODV.
The City Angels are a voluntary association founded in 1994 in Milan on the initiative of Mario Furlan. They help people in need and bring safety and security to the streets of 21 Italian and 3 Swiss cities. Their aim is to assist the marginalised and protect citizens who are victims of delinquency.
For 30 years they have been helping anyone in need and are recognised by their blue beret and red jacket. They mainly support the homeless in Milan and other cities where they are present by distributing food, clothes, blankets and a smile to the homeless. They also host them in shelters and assist them in finding work and housing. They also help migrants, alcoholics, drug addicts, prostitutes and anyone in need of help.
They also carry out activities to prevent and combat crime and police the territory, in cooperation with the police. In 2016, in Milan, the City Angels set up the ‘Elio Fiorucci’ reception centre for homeless people and refugees, named after the late fashion designer, a great friend of the association.
In 2017, again in Milan, the City Angels opened the ‘Oasi del clochard’: a village for homeless people.
