Fondazione La Stampa - Specchio dei tempi
The La Stampa - Specchio dei tempi Foundation is a non-profit organization supported by the solidarity of the readers of La Stampa newspaper and the citizens of Turin.
It comes from the column of the same name published every day on the pages of the newspaper: a space for dialogue, discussion, where injustices are reported but also where help is asked for and offered. Since 1955 Specchio dei tempi has been the "heart" of La Stampa, the reference for readers who want to give a hand to those in difficulty.
The Foundation has active projects in Turin, Italy and worldwide. We assist lonely elderly people, needy families, the sick, the homeless, children and populations affected by disasters. We are the ones involved in the schools after earthquakes: from Nepal to Mexico through to central Italy, we have rebuilt 26 in record time, after the most serious tragedies of the last thirty years. We are those of the Thirteenth Salary of Friendship: the initiative with which every Christmas, since 1976, we have been giving a cheque to the elderly forgotten by everyone.
When there is an emergency we are always there and for Coronavirus we have collected over 10 million euros which have been immediately turned into concrete projects in favour of the health system, schools, small businesses and families overwhelmed by the crisis.
We believe in transparency and promptness. For this reason we always tell how we use donations and we try to hurry with every action of help: we know that the most fragile people cannot wait. For over 60 years we have been committed to giving hope to those who suffer and we have learned that love, experience and seriousness must be put into every project. So every day we put our heart into it - the heart of La Stampa readers and Specchio dei tempi donors.
