Fondazione Piemontese per la Ricerca sul Cancro ETS

The Fondazione Piemontese per la Ricerca sul Cancro ETS was established 38 years ago with a single goal: to create, in Piedmont, a cancer centre of excellence where research activities coexist with those of treatment, to provide patients with the best therapies in the shortest possible time. And at the basis of all this, a unique model: the person at the centre. The Candiolo Institute, in fact, was created by people for people.

The Institute of Candiolo - IRCCS is the only Italian cancer research and treatment centre built exclusively through the support of private donors who, thanks to their generosity, have made it a centre of international importance, accessible to all. It is the first Scientific Hospitalization and Treatment Institute in Piedmont and has also obtained the prestigious recognition as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre from the OECI (Organisation of European Cancer Institute). It began its activities in 1996 and has been constantly developing ever since: today it covers an area of almost 60,000 square metres and employs around 800 people including doctors, Italian and international researchers, nurses, administrative staff and technicians.

In 2021 the Foundation launched ‘Cantiere Candiolo’, an expansion plan aimed at creating new spaces dedicated to treatment and research, available to doctors, researchers, and above all to patients and those close to them. At the beginning of 2024, work on the First Lot was completed with the new Oncolab: 3 thousand square metres of state-of-the-art laboratories dedicated to cancer research.
