MAITI NEPAL was founded in 1993 by Anuradha Koirala, who has dedicated her life to end human trafficking and sexual exploitation of young Nepalese women and children.
Over the past 25 years Maiti Nepal has grown and today they run three prevention homes, eleven transit homes, two hospices and a formal school.
More than 1000 children are receiving direct services from Maiti Nepal every day.
Anuradha Koirala is a most extraordinary women whose relentless fight against these crimes has created much awareness throughout the world and she has over the years been awarded 38 national and international awards in recognition of her courageous acts and achievements furthering the cause of children’s and women’s rights.
Among these awards she received the CNN Hero of the year award in 2010, the Mother Teresa award in 2014 and the PADMA Shri award in 2017.
