Thumps Up For Charity

Thumps Up is a global charitable outreach initiative aimed at the cause of aiding with childhood cancer. Based in the Caribbean as a focal point because of the lack of treatment and professional medical care for children affected by cancer Ages 3-16. Studies have shown a rise in childhood cancer in the Caribbean, there is also an economic disadvantage because of the disparity of care given compared to countries with higher economic resources. Thumps Up came up with the idea of helping the cancer patient and their families psychologically. Children were depressed and frustrated along with a lack of hope to continue to fight. The idea came to offer Art Lessons via video and art kits. The child would be given a monthly project centered around their environment like carnival or sport activities. Once the project is completed it will be entered for an Art Exhibition to the public. Art that is sold, the participant is given 60%, that can be used by their families on personal needs the child may have. Art was selected as charitable because of the creative aspect that the child can use their imagination to escape from their ordinary life of battling cancer. The child can look forward to the Art Exhibition with the opportunity of buying something they want and making a contribution to society that will live on. The Caribbean Island that is presently being featured is St. Vincent and The Grenadines. This island went through two major economic setbacks COVID and a volcano eruption La Soufere in Dec,2020This caused economic they are still battling with loss of homes and livelihood. The goal is to spread throughout the low economic Caribbean countries and offer our psychological benefits to other children with cancer. To let them know along with their families they are not alone.
