Floral Celebrations by Sharon Withers
Oil on Canvas, 2015, 60 x 45.5cm
This auction lot will be closed at the silent Love & Life charity auction on Saturday 17 October 2015 at Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village. Please read the Live Bidding Conditions below for more information.
Sharon Withers is a young artist known for creating large scale abstract landscape work and triptych oil paintings. Her work can be found worldwide from America to Europe in private collections and corporate establishments.
The paintings are based on shapes and textures found in nature and their symbolic meanings. The work combines visual richness through the use of colour and textural depth.
Through the process of layering and texture residues of past disturbances are visible throughout the layering leaving an imprint of the event. My work is designed to intrigue and challenge your perception of the natural world.
The paintings relate to aspects of space, time, tension and surface tension. Time and gravity play a key role, the intrusion of these elements relates to cause and effect. They emphasise the visual tension between the two dimensional plane and the three dimensional space.
This item was donated by Sharon Withers to support Watts Gallery Trust & Transplant Links Community

原因
Watts Gallery Trust and Transplant Links Community (TLC) have joined forces to host a charity auction to raise money for these two life-transforming charities. Watts Gallery Trust and TLC have come together for many reasons, but ultimately because they share a common belief: the power of art and social conscience.
TLC is a medical charity that directly saves the lives of children and adults with kidney failure in developing countries and teaches skills to local doctors so that many more can benefit in future. G F Watts, a Royal Academician and contributor to the founding collection of Tate, believed in the connection between art and social conscience and the power of art to change people’s lives. His vision continues today through the Watts Gallery Trust Art for All Big Issues programme reaching excluded groups such as prisoners, young offenders, reformed drug users, homeless, and those with mental health difficulties. Perdita Hunt OBE, DL Director of Watts Gallery Trust, and the other staff keep this vision at the heart of everything they do. TLC’s CEO, Dr Jennie Jewitt-Harris, is also currently Artist in Residence at Watts Gallery, combining her medical work abroad with her love of fine art.
