The most famous stamp of the Italian Republic, a new specimen with original rubber intact and in perfect condition, complete with a Ferrario guarantee certificate.

It was issued on April 3, 1961 and was immediately withdrawn from sale as the borders of Peru were not precisely reproduced.

This "incorrect" stamp was offered for sale only for the postage of the commemorative aerograms of the flight to South America of the then President Gronchi and, once he realized the error, it was replaced on April 6 by a similar value of 205 lire printed in gray with the correct borders.

It is a unique and exceptional case of Italian Philately, which made this stamp famous all over the world.

The Ministry of the Post Office announced an official sale of 70,625 copies, while the rest were incinerated.

The purchase of unique items through an auction house requires careful evaluation by the buyer. We invite you to personally examine all the information and material at your disposal, including our returns policy, before proceeding with purchase.
