Take home this print created as an invitation for the exhibition at the "Leo Castelli Gallery", New York November 21st - December 22nd 1981 and hand signed by Andy Warhol! A work that would sell between 12 and 16 thousand dollars at gallery. This is an unrivaled collector's item. This is a smaller version of Warhol's Marilyn made for his trusted gallery owner.
Andy Warhol, founder and leading figure of American Pop Art, was born in 1928 the son of a Russian family in Pennsylvania. He began his career as an artist creating advertising graphics. Already in 1956 he presented his graphic works at the Museum of Modern Art. In the early 1960s Warhol began experimenting with different techniques and began to focus on typically American consumer objects, such as Campbell's soup cans or Coca Cola bottles. In 1962 Warhol began with his series of portraits of famous stars, such as Marilyn Monroe or Elvis Presley, who were then at the peak of their careers. His renowned studio 'The Factory' has been a meeting point for internationally successful artists, actors and musicians. In the 1970s, galleries began to exhibit Warhol's work, which today is part of some of the most famous collections, such as the Modern Museum of Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London and the d'Art Moderne in Paris.
