Take home this extraordinary artwork "Weapons of Mass Distraction" by Banksy.
This limited editions stamp, which show Queen Elizabeth in a gas mask, is formed by 16 image that have been perforated along contours to appear as usable postage stamps. It was created in 2001 to promote Banksy's website and, for these reason, every stamps has the caption www.banksy.co.uk on the reverse. At the time it was distributed at exhibitions and Santas Ghetto.
About the artist
Banksy has earned fame for his graffiti, which combines spray paint and stencil techniques with commercial, political and contemporary imagery, infused with wry social commentary and humor. His work first appeared on walls in Bristol and around London's Shoreditch district during the mid-1990s. He has since gone on to create images on the sides of corporate buildings, billboards and the Israeli West Bank wall.
In 2015, Banksy created a large-scale installation titled Dismaland Bemusement Park, an immersive and fully functional amusement park that contained political commentary on wealth distribution, sexism and the UK government. The park, open from August to September 2015, was funded by Banksy himself. In addition to his regular graffiti, Banksy creates works for various charities and opens frequent exhibitions to a large audience and critical acclaim. He lives and works in England, perhaps.
