This auction is for a special edition of Portofino Dry Gin, created to mark the Ocean Month, entirely hand painted by the artist Valerio Sigismondi, who has created a work dedicated to the theme of the preservation of the seas and oceans.
This five-liter bottle of Portofino Dry Gin is an artisan gin born resulting from the passion of its founders for the suggestive village of Portofino.
Produced in an ancient Italian distillery, Portofino Dry Gin is made up of 21 different botanicals, carefully selected for their aromatic properties: lemon, juniper, lavender, rosemary, marjoram, sage, iris and rose.
Since 2023, Portofino Dry Gin has been linked to One Ocean Foundation to support its important projects related to the protection of marine ecosystems.
Valerio Sigismondi is a freelance illustrator. Attracted by minimalism, his style stands out for the concepts behind his illustrations, focused on environmental and social issues. Composed of a limited range of colors and a purely graphic visual, his images convey important messages through the use of simple elements, but with a strong visual impact. His works have been selected in international contests and he collaborates both in Italy and abroad with magazines, graphic arts boutiques, web pages and startups.
The artwork is made by hand, using water-based pigmented markers, later sealed with a protective fixative. Characterized by an uneven color application, the marker technique allows you to create brilliant graphic effects that maintain all the characteristics of a manual process, making the artwork a unique and unrepeatable piece.
“Maintaining biodiversity is essential for the right balance of ecosystems and for the well-being of the human species. The idea of respecting and conserving ecosystems is based on the co-existence of all habitats. For this reason, in my project, I have focused on the interpenetration of ecosystems, without the predominance of one over the other. Taking advantage of the iconic blue of the bottle, the sea and the sky have no boundaries, but merge into the beauty of the Portofino landscape in a continuous relationship."
