This rare work, created exclusively for the 2010 event, reproduces the work of Damien Hirst entitled Self Portrait. The invitation itself is already considered a piece of art, and has been sold both by galleries and traded between collectors.
Damien Hirst is one of the best known and most important living artists in the world. His works at auction have reached staggering figures, and the market is always excited by his new works. Since the nineties Damien Hirst seems to have gone out of his way to upset the moralists, displaying one contradiction after another, mixing wealth and poverty, life and death, taking risks in world of art and going against the rules that would normally help artists to make the history books or add zeros to the price of their works.
