Alessandro Del Piero (Conegliano, 9 November 1974) is a former Italian footballer who played as a striker and won the world championship with the Italian national team in 2006. Nicknamed Pinturicchio by Gianni Agnelli, he is considered one of the best Italian players of all time, as well as one of the best international footballers of his generation. Captain of Juventus from 2001 to 2012, with the Turin club he won numerous trophies at national and international level, scoring in all competitions he competed in and setting club records for goals (290) and appearances (705). Considering also the goals scored in the national youth teams, he is second, behind Silvio Piola (390), in the ranking of the best Italian goalscorers of all time, with 359 goals.
