Feast your eyes on this fabulous print!

Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist who first achieved fame as part of the graffiti duo SAMO, writing enigmatic epigrams in the cultural hotbed of Manhattan's Lower East Side during the late 1970s, where rap, punk, and street art coalesced into early hip-hop music culture.

He used social commentary in his paintings as a tool for introspection and for identifying with his experiences in the Black community, as well as attacks on power structures and systems of racism. The friendship between Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat has fascinated the art world for decades. Dubbed as one of most legendary relationships in contemporary art history.

The two figures in 'Dustheads' are thought to be Basquiat's close friends that developed an addiction to the recreational drug PCP, known as angel dust. By using bold brushstrokes and vivid colours and setting the figures against a black backdrop, Basquiat has created a sense of chaos and movement reflecting the nature of drug abuse.
