Javier Adelmar Zanetti is a sports manager and Argentine former footballer, defender or midfielder, vice president of Inter Milan. He is regarded as one of the greatest Argentine players in football history as well as one of the best defenders of his generation. Raised in Argentina, he began his career first at Talleres and then at Banfield. In 1995 he moved to Inter, a team for which he was captain from 2001 to 2014, the year in which he concluded his competitive activity. He became the player with the most appearances for Inter in history (858) as well as the most successful ever with sixteen trophies, including five Italian championships, four Italian Cups, four Italian Super Cups, a UEFA Cup, a Champions League and a FIFA club World Cup. He played 145 games for the Argentina national team, making him the third most capped player in the history of the Selección Albiceleste. With 1114 official matches played, he is tenth in the ranking of players with at least 1000 career appearances. In 2004 he was also included by Pelé in the list of the 125 best living footballers.
