Luca Toni (Pavullo nel Frignano, 26 May 1977) is an Italian former footballer who played as a striker, world champion with the Italian national team in 2006. Considered one of the best Italian centre-forwards of his generation, he rose to national prominence with Palermo, winning a Serie B championship in the 2003/04 season and the title of top scorer in the cadet tournament that year. In 2005 he moved to Fiorentina, where he played for two seasons and became the first Italian player to win the Golden Boot after being named top scorer in Serie A in the 2005/06 championship. In 2007 he was signed by Bayern Munich, where he won a German championship, a German Cup and a German League Cup in the 2007/08 season, as well as being top scorer in the Bundesliga in the same year. In the following season, still with the German club, he won the UEFA Cup. After experience in Italy and abroad, he ended his career in Verona, winning another Serie A top scorer title in the 2014/15 season.
Called up to the senior national team from 2004 to 2009, he competed in the 2006 edition of the world championship, the 2008 European championship and the 2009 Confederations Cup.
