Vincent Candela is a French former footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. He began his professional career in 1992 at Toulouse, where he remained until 1995 before moving on to Guingamp and, in January 1997, to Roma. Candela stayed at Roma for nine seasons, winning a Scudetto and an Italian Super Cup. After his years with Roma, in January 2005 he moved to English side Bolton, where he stayed until the end of the season, before being signed by Udinese. In the summer of 2006 he was signed by Siena and in January 2007 by Messina. On 5 June 2009 he officially retired from the world of football. Candela made 40 appearances for the French national team, winning the home World Championship in 1998 and the European Championship in 2000.
