Jose Canseco is a former professional baseball player who is widely recognized for his career in Major League Baseball (MLB) and for his controversial statements and actions both during and after his playing days.
He made his MLB debut with the Oakland Athletics in 1985. He quickly gained fame for his power hitting and speed on the basepaths. He became the first player in MLB history to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a single season in 1988.
