Match issued Test jersey, signed and worn by Duhan van der Merwe for the official Lions 2021 squad headshots on player meeting day - the first time players meet ahead of the Tour and the day they wear the official kit for the very first time.
Scotland winger Duhan van der Merwe returned to the country of his birth as part of The British & Irish Lions squad to tour South Africa.
The 6ft 4in back has made a major impact since arriving in Scotland in 2017, when he joined Guinness PRO14 side Edinburgh after stints in France at Montpellier and South Africa with the Blue Bulls. He qualified for Scotland through the residency rule and made his Test debut against Georgia in October 2020, where he scored a try in a 48-7 win.
Van der Merwe has added nine further caps and scored eight tries in total, including five in the 2021 Guinness Six Nations that saw him finish as the Championship’s top try-scorer. In Round 1, van der Merwe scored the only try of the game as Scotland won away to England for the first time since 1983, while two tries followed against Italy in Round 5. The Scotland star finished his Championship in style with another pair against France a week later in the re-arranged Round 3 encounter. Van der Merwe went over in the last play of the game, as Scotland ended another away-day with their first successful trip to France since 1999.
Having started for the Lions in all three 2021 Tests, van der Merwe will shortly join his brother, Akker, in the English Premiership next season after signing for Worcester Warriors.
