Pavel Nedvěd is a Czech sports manager and former footballer who played as a midfielder. Considered one of the best midfielders of his generation, as well as one of the strongest Czech players in history, in the 1990s and 2000s he played a key role in the successes of Lazio first and then Juventus. In 2003, he was awarded the Ballon d'Or by the French magazine France Football and named World Player of the Year by the British magazine World Soccer. During his career he also played for Dukla Prague and Sparta Prague in his home country. With the Czech national team, for which he was captain from 2000 to 2006, he became European runner-up in 1996.
