Gaining early success in his 30s, in 2015 he reached his first and only ATP final at the Brasil Open, losing to Pablo Cuevas in the third set tie-break. He boasts five Challenger titles, which he won between 2015 and 2018.
He qualified four times for the first round in Grand Slams and made it to number 100 in the world singles ranking in 2015.
In 2021 he retired from playing tennis, becoming Andrea Pellegrino's coach.
