Diego Armando Maradona was an Argentine footballer, football manager and sports manager, who played as an attacking midfielder, world champion in 1986 and world runner-up in 1990 with the Argentina national team. Nicknamed El Pibe de Oro, he is considered one of the greatest footballers of all time and by some the best ever. Over the course of his professional career that spanned twenty years he played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell's Old Boys. The World Cup in Mexico '86 was the apex of his success.
For the 1986 World Cup, the old blue shirts that were considered uncomfortable were replaced with replica versions and adapted to match the official ones by adding some details. Due to time constraints, the AFA emblem was missing its traditional laurel branches, while the numbers on the back were actually made for American football shirts and were therefore larger and shinier.
Maradona has signed the shirt on the back, making it unique.
