“Alba” vertical sculpture in plexiglass case.
Frayed fabric
70x20x8 cm

"Alba" is part of a series of works inspired by the romantic period, reflecting on the idea of escape. The feather evokes ideas of the flight of a bird as a sort of escape.

Who has never wanted to escape physically, spiritually or even by their imagination to other, less suffocating, brighter spaces?

For “Alba” I wanted to create very light feathers using pieces of frayed fabrics to evoke an ethereal moment, a moment in which the intense sky blue color symbolizes hope, while the drama is red and planted on the ground.

Jorgelina Alessandrelli, born in Argentina, has lived and worked in Monza since 2014.

In 1995 she graduated in Fine Arts from the National University of Rosario, Argentina. She also studied pedagogy, and spent some years teaching art in elementary schools.

Since 2000 she has lived in various countries that have enriched her with human and aesthetic experiences. The continuous shifting between the cultures of South America, Central America, and North America, have left unmistakable marks and refined imprints on her expressive language. In recent years, she has wanted to continue to train as an artist and has attended various workshops and courses to discover new and stimulating paths. While living in Brazil, merging design, fashion and art, she created unusual accessories and wearable art made with unconventional materials.

Her need to tell stories in three dimensions has always underpinned her research, generating rich works, vertical sculptures and installations. She expresses herself through mixed media, often using fabrics, paper and waste materials.

She loves to reflect on contemporary life, the relationship between man and nature, the anguish and struggle of each of us to find our own balance in life.

She has taken part in art exhibitions and competitions in Argentina, Brazil, the United States and Italy.
