- This extraordinary 1996 Platinum LP Award of Purple Rain was made when Warner Brothers announced more than 13 million copies had been sold.
- It is now estimated that more than 25 million copies were sold prior to Prince's death.
- Comes with a glossy photo of Prince on the cycle which was an iconic pose of the superstar.
- These awards were never available commercially, and never "sold" to anyone, but were sent to radio stations or VIPs to commemorate the success of the album and as a way of thanking them from the record label, in this case, Warner Brothers.
- Award created by Mr. Kenneth A. Kittinger, a premier gold producer and award creator for major record label companies in Nashville for five decades.
