Banksy is the King of Controversy. No series of his work better exemplifies his shock-factor than Queen Victoria. Set against a lusty red background, the former British monarch appears to straddle the face of another woman. Engaging in a raunchy sex position called ’queening’, Banksy makes a mockery of Queen Victoria and the monarchy she represents. The image is positively treasonous, and presents Victoria as a sapphic queen embedded in a deeply fetishistic scene. Clad in full regalia and seductive suspenders, the series makes Banksy's anti-royalist sentiment crystal clear.

Dismaland was a temporary art project organised by street artist Banksy in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England. Prepared in secret, the pop-up exhibition at the Tropicana, a disused lido, was "a sinister twist on Disneyland" that opened during the weekend of 21 August 2015 and closed on 27 September 2015, 36 days later. Banksy described it as a "family theme park unsuitable for children".
