Michael James Owen is a former English footballer, with a forward role, winner of the Ballon d'Or in 2001.
Considered one of the best English strikers in history, he represented his national team 89 times and scored 40 goals between 1998 and 2008; he also won the Premier League top scorer title twice in a row (1997-1998 and 1998-1999). In 1998 he was awarded the best youngster of the English league and was voted by the BBC as sports personality of the year. In 2004 he was included in the FIFA 100, a list of the 125 greatest living footballers selected by Pelé on the occasion of FIFA's centenary celebrations.
