Sergio Rossi, aka Rosso, after years spent painting in search of a language able to translate reality into landscapes and stories, moved towards the informal, albeit with a structure and the desire to crystallize forms into rigorous synergies of materials and colors. The artist sees the painting as an indeterminate space into which you can allow the constant flow of one's unconscious emerge, in an attempt to find banks that can channel it to balance the elements that make up the work for a harmonic, formal and chromatic result. The expression can be found in the contrast between precise and defined backgrounds, played on a few shades and almost always characterized by vast backgrounds (close to abstract and constructivist tradition), and the irregular fragments that emerge, giving life to metamorphic forms - like fragments of a broken and recomposed reality with compositional rhythm that respects only free and imaginative invention. From informal tradition Rossi also draws his passion for the materiality of the picture. By treating the pictorial surface with alchemical mixtures of sands, colors, stuccos, glues, onto which sometimes he also inserts gold or silver leaf and collages of fabrics, he is able to give life to variation that are at times almost silent, severe or poetic (with possible echoes of Burri); at other times, however, he brings us offerings that are rich in an expressive vitality that manifests itself in chromatic explosions of an intensity that recalls the vital impulse from which creation springs. From chaos to the cosmos, from essence to being. It is possible to perceive him digging to the depths of the universe, as if attempting to represent microcosm and macrocosm, to find and reproduce their most intimate harmonies, as well as their hidden turmoil.
