Take home this incredible photo "Girl with green shawl" by Steve McCurry.
This photo, depicting a 10-year-old girl who fled the civil war in Afghanistan, was taken in Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2002, when McCurry returned to South Asia to search for Sharat Gula, the protagonist of the famous photograph 'The Afghan Girl', which he had photographed in Nasir Bagh refugee camp in 1984.
About the artist
Steve McCurry (Philadelphia, 23 April 1950) is an American photographer, freelancer, and photojournalist. His photo "Afghan Girl", of a girl with piercing green eyes, has appeared on the cover of National Geographic several times. McCurry has photographed many assignments for National Geographic and has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1986. McCurry is the recipient of numerous awards, including Magazine Photographer of the Year, awarded by the National Press Photographers Association; the Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal; and two first-place prizes in the World Press Photo contest (1985 and 1992).
