Of American origin, Lichtenstein was one of the leading figures in Pop Art, together with the famous Andy Warhol, with whom he shared artistic current, and the city of New York. Roy Lichtenstein was born and lived in New York in the years when the Big Apple was the epicenter of the greatest artistic ferment in the world, yet the king of comics always remained somewhat secluded from the cultural environment of the city, identifying himself as an more reserved and "less noisy" artist.
