The Mugello MotoGP held on June 4, 2017 saw the Italian Andrea Dovizioso ahead of the Catalan Maverick Vinales. Michele Pirro placed 9th.
In 2017, Pirro made appearances as a wildcard at the Motorcycle Grand Prix in Italy, San Marino and the Valencian Community with the Ducati Desmosedici of the official Ducati Team, totaling 25 points.
