Support Rare Genetic Diseases Research
The Goal
Laura has always wanted a family. Some time after her diagnosis she found out her defective gene cannot be passed on to her children. She became a mom when she gave birth to Ferdinando a year ago.
Michele always pushes himself to reach new goals, in karate and in life. Matteo, affected by Fragile X Syndrome , is a hard worker who tries to live an independent life. Giorgio is affected by a very rare disease and any progress at school is a great achievement. Carmina dances, takes photographs and paints even when her cystic fibrosis leaves her breathless.
These are just some of the stories of people who want to be able to enjoy life to the fully - from family to school, work and hobbies - by setting themselves sporting challenges.
Research into rare genetic diseases has been moving forward for nearly 30 years with determination, strength and often in the face of challenges. It’s a long journey marked by obstacles, difficulties and successes. And while research is going on rare genetic diseases continue to rob sufferers of special moments, important milestones and simple daily gestures that we all take for granted but for them represent great achievements.
Fondazione Telethon believes that even people with rare genetic diseases should be able to live, grow and enjoy all those experiences that make life worth living. But there’s still a long way to go and everyone must come together lend a hand.
If you want to make a difference to the lives of those affected by rare genetic diseases then donate now.
