The Circle, founded by Annie Lennox in 2008, brings together women from all walks of life to address the injustices and inequality facing many millions of women and girls around the globe, to enable positive change.
Women and girls, especially in low-income countries, are disproportionately affected during emergencies. We have launched the Women and Girls Solidarity Fund to respond to the additional challenges and pressures women are facing globally. Instances of violence against women have risen dramatically, with estimates suggesting that there will be 15 million additional cases of domestic violence every 3 months of the lockdown. Millions of garment workers have been left destitute by factory closures, women are struggling to feed their families. In Pakistan alone, 1 million garment workers are set to lose their jobs. The need is only going to increase as some of the world’s poorest countries begin to feel the full force of Covid-19. We have long been there for the world’s most vulnerable women and we will continue to do so at this time of great urgency.
Thank you for supporting our emergency appeal and making a difference for women and girls across the globe.
Good luck!
