CharityStars is an international online charity auction platform, selling items from many different countries; users can bid on items, memorabilia or exclusive experiences from anywhere in the world by registering directly on the site.
It is possible to participate from all over the world. However, there may be variations in the currency used, US dollars, pounds or euros, depending on the country from which the auction is viewed.
E.g. If you live in the United States and want to bid on an object or experience in euros, you will make the bid in euros, but you will also be shown the amount calculated in US dollars.
However, it is important to note that some jurisdictions do not allow residents to participate in Sweepstakes. We invite you to consult the Official Regulations of the Sweepstake you wish to participate in, which can be accessed from the sweepstakes page itself.
Data confidentiality and transaction security are the priorities at CharityStars with regard to its users: the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol is used with a 256-bit long encryption key, which makes all sensitive GDPR data protected on the platform. Furthermore, the payment system we use makes use of mechanisms compliant with PCI Level 1, which makes it one of the highest systems in terms of security.
Our service fee is an additional fee on the auction hammer price or winning bid that is charged to the winning bidder and is standard across auctions worldwide.
The purpose of our service fee is to ensure optimal delivery of our services and to sustain operational expenses crucial for CharityStars' existence. This fee contributes to covering our daily costs, including sourcing exclusive lots and experiences for auction, quality control efforts, promotional campaigns, marketing initiatives, pre and post-sales support, as well as maintaining the technological infrastructure essential for hosting numerous online auctions. The service fee will always be displayed in percentage terms in the bidding widget within each auction and may vary from a minimum of 10% to a maximum of 15%.
